When Matt (this episode’s guest, not its host!) was in his late 20s, he was a broke meth addict who needed an easier way to score — which is exactly what he got when he got hooked up with a high-quantity dealer who needed a hand moving product in Matt’s upper-class NorCal neighborhood. 'Good deal!', Matt thought... but what Matt did NOT think, or even have the slightest clue about, was that this new dealer pal worked for the infamous (and murderous) Zetas cartel— that is, until the FEDs came-a-knocking, with the threat of a MINIMUM sentence of 25 to life, unless Matt became an informant for them. So without much of a choice, Matt went to work (undercover!) for the FBI, helping put scores of dealers and middle men behind bars over the course of three chaotic, high-stress years. But between the mental strain of the undercover work, his newfound sobriety, and his growing conscience, Matt knew he would not be able to live like this forever. So Matt asked himself the ultimate question: continue living like this under the proverbial sword of Damocles, or finally face the music and spend some time behind bars?

Bode was a happy, able-bodied, athletic 14-year-old kid— until a completely random, totally freak accident left him with a nearly severed spinal cord, entirely unable to move from the neck down. His doctors warned him not to even HOPE to walk again, as literally no one in the history of medicine has recovered from such an injury. (Not one!!!)
Somehow, against all possible odds, he not only began to recover— but he was suddenly recovering at an astonishingly rapid clip. Which bred hope, optimism, and determination. Which in turn sped the pace of his recovery even further. Until one day he was completely back to full health, walking and talking and LIVING as he always had, even getting back into his sport of choice (which, being that he is from the American Northeast, is of course lacrosse).

All of a sudden, Jonathan was a national hero, even appearing on programs like 'Dr. Phil' to tell his story of bravery and strength. Sounds crazy, right?! Well, what’s even CRAZIER is that that’s just the BEGINNING of Jonathan’s story, as this heroic incident — while initially bringing him notoriety and popularity — led him down a confusing path of anxiety and self-destruction. Once again, Jonathan had to find the strength to confront the beast in front of him. And once again, he BEAT THE HELL out of it!

Seven episodes in and we think it's high time for our very first EPIC SURVIVAL STORY.
Our guest Zach is an accomplished and experienced aerial photographer for movies and tv shows. One night after a long day of work on the mega-massive-hit show ‘Yellowstone’, Zach loads up his gear and begins his 3-hour drive through the serpentine Montana mountains, amid cold and icy conditions, back to his hotel for a good night of hard-earned sleep. But on a particularly dangerous and desolate stretch of road, Zach encounters a patch of black ice that has other plans for him. Next thing he knows, his truck is upside down atop a frozen body of water— at which point the ice breaks, and he starts to sink. Fast. Unfortunately for Zach, avoiding a horrible death by drowning in freezing water was only the beginning of his troubles. He did, however, live to tell the tale. And tell the tale is exactly what he does. Needless to say, Matt’s mind is blown. We think yours will be too!

Our guest (a kind, extremely tatted-up gentleman named Ben) was born and raised into a very strange, very scary, very secretive, and VERY little-known Christian sect called Gospel Outreach. By the time Ben turned 18, he knew he had to get out— so that’s exactly what he did. But it wasn’t easy! In fact, it was probably the hardest part of all. And now, for the first time ever, Ben tells Matt everything — the whole story — and it is ABSOLUTELY INSANE. Matt, for his part, is blown away, not just by Gospel Outreach’s wicked (and plain old weird!) ways, but also by Ben’s rare ability to tell his story with such clear-eyed perspective, and in incredible detail.
Call us crazy but something tells us the powers that be over at Gospel Outreach won’t be very happy with Ben for airing out their business like this! When You Run A Massive Fake ID Empire

Today’s guest (who asked to remain nameless, for reasons you will very soon understand) has a confession to make: when he was just a wee teenager, he became one of Southern California’s largest suppliers of fake IDs. As his ‘business’ rapidly expanded throughout the entire Golden State (and eventually beyond its borders), he became a folk hero of sorts to the thousands of kids aged 16-20 for whom he provided a ‘legal’ means for a good time. But as his legend grew and even some of his most faraway customers began whispering his name, so did the risk involved in his (obviously illegal) enterprise. Here, for the first time, he tells his whole story from beginning to end, and in the process, he utterly rocks Matt’s world. We think it will rock yours too!
